Food Assistance

St. Vincent de Paul Social Services of Bend provides eligible individuals and families with nutritious food boxes with enough groceries to prepare meals for 5 days. Food boxes are available every 30 days.

St. Vincent de Paul Social Services of Bend operates a 1,000-square foot, fully equipped food pantry. The food pantry provides more than 24,000 nutritious meals each month to over 600 Bend-area household. According to the Oregon Food Bank’s local representative NeighborImpact, we are the largest provider of emergency food boxes in Deschutes County.

If you need food, you need to come in person to our office and fill out a form.

You must meet the 2013-2014 USDA – TEFAP Commodity Eligibility Guidelines to qualify for our program.

Prescription Assistance

Prescription Assistance

St. Vincent de Paul Social Services of Bend helps people who have no other way to get much needed medicine.

In emergency situations we can assist with the cost of needed prescriptions. You must bring your prescription in with you. We can help out once every two months for a total of six months. We cannot help with pain or narcotic medications.

Utilities Assistance

Utility Assistance

St. Vincent de Paul Social Services of Bend provides help for people who are in danger of losing their electrical power, gas, or water from November 1st to March 31st.

We can ONLY assist when you have a CUT OFF notice indicating impending discontinuation of service. During those months we fund a specific amount on the first of each month. We assist on a first come first serve basis. These funds are for emergency situations only and we cannot help with past due bills and in order to spread those funds a far as possible and depending on the circumstances we may only pay a portion of the amount due. We can assist with one utility per family every twelve months.

Propane Assistance

From October to December and again from January to March St. Vincent de Paul Social Services of Bend provides up to 10 gallons of propane for each three month period. This program was originated to help those in our community who live at one of the many outdoor camps. You must have your own tanks, and the vouchers are only good at the Stop and Go Shell Station at HWY 20 and 27th Street.

Clothing Assistance

Clothing Assistance

During the winter months, St. Vincent de Paul Social Services of Bend stocks an inventory of slightly used warm coats and clothing for men, women, and children to protect against the cold. We try to provide one coat per person per year and, if we have sweaters, fleece tops, hats, scarves, pants, or shoes, we can also provide one or a pair of those per person.

Housing Assistance

Transitional Housing

St. Vincent de Paul Social Services of Bend operates 10 transitional housing units designed to get people off the streets, stabilize their lives and, with our resources, help them to return to self-sufficiency. Rents are set at below-market rates which include utilities.
