Who We Are

St. Vincent de Paul – Serving Bend Families For Over Thirty Years

Since 1981, St. Vincent de Paul has been dedicated to helping those in need in the Bend area. As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) Social Service organization, we rely on donations and grants to carry out our mission. Every contribution stays in our local community, supporting individuals and families regardless of religion, race, origin, or gender.

OUR HISTORY

In 1979, a small group of compassionate people began collecting canned goods in Bend and storing them in their garages. Through word of mouth, they delivered food boxes to families in need. As this service continued to grow, the Board of Directors was formed, and the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store was opened in 1981 by the Bi-Mart store.

In 1985, we purchased our current location on Third Street to continue our social services. While the thrift store was eventually closed due to a decline in revenue, our mission remained strong.

ABOUT US

At St. Vincent de Paul, we are dedicated to supporting individuals and families in need by providing essential services focused on food assistance and stable housing. Our goal is to offer a helping hand to those facing hardship in our community.

We operate an onsite food pantry that provides food boxes and sack lunches to individuals and families in need. Additionally, we own 14 low-income rental units, managed through Lava Ridge, to provide safe and affordable housing. Since 2022, we have also operated a 10-unit high-barrier shelter designed to help individuals transition back into permanent housing.

Our supportive services extend beyond housing and food. We offer assistance with obtaining IDs, prescription help, propane and clothing vouchers, and electricity support during certain times of the year.

OUR TEAM

Our organization is led by a Board of Directors and an Executive Director. We are supported by a dedicated team, including a part-time Food Pantry Manager, a Village Program Manager, and 65 passionate volunteers, all working together to make a positive impact in the community.
